Maker & Moss is proud to feature a number of artists from all over the United States. These artists are producing fine hand crafted furniture and decorative items you won’t find everywhere. It’s part of our mission to seek out the most talented and original artists we can find. For us, it’s the heart of what we do. Their work is something truly one of a kind and you can feel proud, as we do, to support the local artist community.
This duo creates unique wood and concrete furniture based on elements of nature. They believe “Organic elements are beautiful, stochastic fractals — random patterns determined both by mathematics and the life of the organism. Life has visual textures, multidimensional nature, and vivid colors that all let the eyes rest easy.”
The natural elements in the wood bases and color of the concrete lend their inspiration while tables and stools are being created. The leaves are picked right from the artist’s garden to create the imprint in many of their pieces. The concrete furniture is not only one of a kind but can be used indoors and outdoors.
The popular wood maps are made by a couple from Michigan who run the family owned business. The bathymetry charts are the equivalent of an above-water topographic lake map. They have maps from many destinations around the United States and are expanding internationally, so keep your eye out for new and exciting wood maps by them.
This talented artist creates happy whimsical porcelain pieces from her Northern California studio. The small details are all done by hand, making each vessel and tray one of a kind. The bright colors are her signature look which are sure to put a smile your face.
For over two decades this artist has brought her unique sensibility to the commercial realm as a designer while always remaining true to her earlier passion – painting. In her she brings together her keenly honed design sense and rich painterly style in a collection of handmade functional art for the table and home.
