West Long Island Sound Wood Chart
A wood map featuring the western portion of the Long Island Sound, in New York. This chart details the beauty of the Atlantic estuary known as Long Island Sound.
Its tidal marshes are some of the most productive in the world, producing three to seven tons per acre per year of vegetation, largely in the form of salt marsh grasses. When this grass is flushed out into the sound, it directly contributes to the great finfish and shellfish production the area has become known for. More than 8 million people live within its watershed, with the western portion of The Sound being the most heavily populated.
This piece comes ready to hang, pre-framed in a custom, solid-wood frame. Its rich contours are carefully crafted from laser-cut layers of Baltic birch, which are hand colored and glued together with the intent that each becomes a prized conversational piece and treasured heirloom.
