In 2014 two Danish design enthusiasts (and husband and wife) Torben and Mia Koed wanted to embark on a new design journey. With 30 years of experience in the world of modern furniture and interior design, the duo thought to look to the future, establishing WOUD from the ground up with the idea to look ahead instead of looking back and using their love of honest design to discover and develop new ideas, whether in form, function, or material.
Today the WOUD Scandinavian design collection has grown to a full line of modern and contemporary furniture, lighting, home decor, rugs, and accessories designed by the brightest emerging and experienced designers from a wide range of countries. All the way from Japan to Canada, each designer has their own expression but together they share a modern understanding of Scandinavian minimalism and simplicity. Some noted product designers WOUD has collaborated with include MSDS Studio, Poiat, Steffen Juul, Mikko Laakkonen, Philip Bro, Studio NUR, Rikke Frost, and many more.
WOUD Furniture
We were instantly drawn to the modern Scandinavian furniture and decor produced by WOUD and knew they would fit in with the rest of our curated designs at Maker & Moss. The WOUD living room furniture collection includes unique and eye-catching pieces of seating, tables, and storage. The Lean lounge chair is upholstered in high-quality fabric with an inviting design that embraces the body and evokes a sense of tranquility. Accent pieces like the Sentrum side table and the TABL combine classic Scandinavian minimalism with utilitarian functionality, all with a pop of style using unique colors that fit any style.
One of our favorite collections by WOUD is the Array series. This collection of sideboards, consoles, and storage furniture is inspired by modern architecture with geometric shapes and horizontal slats. The Dew lamp is a portable, wireless-rechargeable lighting design with dual functionality. Use it as a table lamp on a desk or side table, while utilizing the base as a tray, or hang it on a wall to use a modern sconce. The Tangent table lamp is an experimental study of modern Scandinavian design. Its clean graphical design features two different-sized tubes forming the base and a lampshade to create a unique minimalist look.
The Ghost lamp collection is a modern interpretation of antique portable oil lamps. The translucent opal glass shade gives the illusion of a white cloth thrown over the light source resembling the appearance of a friendly ghost in the air.

The Designers
Behind the designs manufactured by WOUD is a long, ever-growing, roster of talented designers from across the globe. Each designer has a unique perspective, background, and story bringing diversity and innovation to WOUD furniture and decor while maintaining a shared sense of modern Scandinavian simplicity and craftsmanship.
One of the first designers that teamed up with WOUD was NUR Design, a Danish studio from Maja Bøgh Vindbjerg focusing on Nordic traditions with a strive to create classic and functional pieces. In German, the word NUR means ‘only’ and ‘simply’ which is the essential manifestation of their products. With a minimalistic approach, Maja aims to craft timeless and long-lasting furniture and lighting that are suitable for a variety of spaces. NUR-designed products for WOUD include the minimalist modern Lean lounge chair, the Japandi furniture inspired Baenk accent bench, the Gap pendant lighting series, and the modern Scandinavian Soround accent table collection.
WOUD furniture’s global designer group also includes KUTARQ Studio from Spain. Architect and designer Jordi López Aguiló found the award-winning studio to create lighting, objects, and furniture with a unique and sensible perspective. WOUD designs created by KUTARQ include the Pump modern lighting collection - the Pump Pendant and Pump Table Lamp. The modern minimalist designs are formed from soft opal glass contrasting with a simple tubular metal ring and inspired by hot air balloons.
Another design studio of note who’s part of the expansive list of WOUD furniture designers is Jessica Nakanishi and Jonathan Sabine, founders of MSDS Studio from Canada. A couple who have mastered getting their name established at many of the world’s leading design brands in just a short time. Their contribution to our selection of WOUD furniture includes the modern Japandi design Level Daybed in leather and fabric.
